Beloveds,
Summer is arriving at St. Paul's, and with it comes a season of new opportunities for connection, learning, service, and renewal.
This past Sunday, we concluded our spring Belonging & Member Engagement Series with Find Your Place. Over the past several weeks, we've welcomed newcomers, explored what it means to be part of St. Paul's, and reflected together on how each of us is called to participate in the life of this community.
I am grateful for everyone who joined us along the way.
Of course, finding your place is not something that happens in a single class or conversation. It is an ongoing journey. Summer can be a wonderful time to explore a ministry you've been curious about, try something new, or deepen your involvement in an area you already love.
One easy way to get involved is through our Summer Choir. No long-term commitment is required—simply arrive at 8:15 a.m. for rehearsal, robe, and sing at the 9 a.m. service. Whether you're a longtime chorister or haven't sung in years, we'd love to welcome you. Email Canon Joseph Ripka for more details!
This summer also brings a special approach to formation. Rather than dividing into multiple classes, we'll gather as one community for a series of engaging, intergenerational experiences designed for all ages. From exploring the hidden symbolism of our sacred space in God's Sign Language to conversations, organ recitals, and opportunities to learn together, I hope you'll make plans to join us. There is something beautiful about children, youth, and adults sharing the same table and discovering faith alongside one another.
This Sunday, join us for our first all ages Dean’s Hour. We’ll be in conversation about faith, belonging, and the Episcopal commitment to affirming the dignity of every human being. Together we'll explore how Scripture, our Baptismal Covenant, and the love of Christ call us into deeper community with one another and a broader vision of God's beloved family.
And as many of our young people prepare for camp season, I give thanks for the ministry of St. Crispin's. St. Crispin’s celebrates 60 years of camp and ministry this year! Generations of Episcopalians have encountered God in profound ways through camp experiences, friendships, worship, and time spent in creation. If you have a child, grandchild, or young person in your life who has not yet registered, there is still time. Details HERE.
Wherever this summer leads you, I invite you to remain connected—to worship, to one another, and to the ministries that help make St. Paul's such a vibrant and faithful community. If you would like to learn more about serving in any ministry, please contact the Cathedral Office or complete the ministry interest form HERE.
I look forward to seeing where God leads us this season!
Faithfully,
The Very Reverend Katie Churchwell +
15th Dean, St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral
