Dean's Message for June 11, 2026

Beloveds,

What a joy it was to see St. Paul's so well represented at last Sunday's Pride Parade and events. From our booth and affirmation wall to the many parishioners who marched alongside Episcopalians from across the metro, we offered a visible witness of God's love, welcome, and dignity for all people. I am also grateful for the thoughtful conversations we shared during our all-ages Dean's Hour on the Theology of Pride. Together, we reflected on what it means to honor the image of God in every person and to build a community where all know they belong.

While Pride Month is often associated with a single weekend, our commitment to welcome, belonging, and relationship extends throughout the year. I encourage you to join us RSVP for the launch of our LGBTQ+ Beloved Circle Dinner on Friday, June 26. Open to LGBTQ+ individuals, family members, friends, and allies, this gathering is an opportunity to deepen connections and continue building community together. Learn more about these activites HERE.

As you think ahead and make plans for Independence Day weekend, be sure to mark your calendar for Stars, Stripes, and Pipes on July 3. This unique patriotic concert and readings will help us reflect on our nation's 250th anniversary through music, history, literature, and civic reflection before gathering for ice cream and the community festivities downtown.

I also invite you to consider joining us for our Legacy Society Gathering on June 27. This special afternoon will provide an opportunity to learn how planned giving can help sustain the mission and ministry of St. Paul's for generations to come. The faithful generosity of those who came before us continues to shape our worship, outreach, and community today, and I am grateful for those who are considering how their legacy might do the same. RSVP by June 22.

Finally, our summer outreach collection for City Care is now underway. Throughout the season, we are collecting sunscreen and bug spray to support our neighbors who spend much of their day outdoors during Oklahoma's hottest months. Donations may be placed at the Outreach Center, and every contribution helps provide comfort, protection, and dignity to those we serve.

Thank you for the many ways you continue to live out the Gospel through worship, service, generosity, and community. I look forward to sharing this summer season with you!

Faithfully,

The Very Reverend Katie Churchwell +
15th Dean, St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral
