Beloveds,
There are seasons in the life of a cathedral when growth becomes visible — not only in programs or attendance, but in leadership, clarity, and shared purpose. We are in such a season.
I am delighted to highlight the arrival of
Canon Tony, who joins us in a new and vital role at St. Paul’s. Canon Tony brings a gracious pastoral presence, deep liturgical grounding, and a heart for teaching and community. His leadership will strengthen our worship life and expand our capacity for formation and pastoral care. I hope you will introduce yourself, extend a warm welcome, and take time to get to know Canon Tony in the weeks ahead.
This moment also includes meaningful transitions within our staff team.
Page Jackson is stepping into an expanded role as Director of Adult Formation, while continuing her faithful ministry with our youth. Page’s theological depth and relational leadership position her beautifully to shape a thoughtful and cohesive pathway for adult spiritual growth at St. Paul’s.
Sarah-Emily Steinhardt is also assuming an expanded role as Member Engagement Coordinator, alongside her communications leadership. This reflects our commitment to intentional hospitality and deeper connection — ensuring that newcomers and long-time members alike find meaningful belonging within our Cathedral community.
These are not simply staffing adjustments. They are signs of maturing ministry and of our shared commitment to clarity, excellence, and faithful growth.
I will be away for part of the first week of March and have the honor of preaching as part of the historic
Calvary Memphis Lenten Preaching Series. I would be delighted for you to be part of that moment by joining our
Watch Party here at St. Paul’s next Wednesday, March 4 at 6:00 p.m. in the Reception Area. Bring an appetizer or dessert to share as we gather for the broadcast and experience this special occasion together as a Cathedral family.
I am deeply grateful for this gifted staff, for the trust we share in leadership, and for each of you who continue to shape the life of St. Paul’s with faith and generosity.
With gratitude and hope,
The Very Reverend Katie Churchwell
15th Dean, St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral
