Dean's Message for December 4, 2025
Author:
December 03, 2025
I am often in a quandary when I come to the crossing during a service to give the announcements: I know, because I have been told many times, that I tend to go on too long sometimes, but there is just so much I want to share!
As you can see from the remainder of this message, Advent is a time of preparation, reflection, anticipation, joy, service, and creation.
Wherever you find yourself this season, there is something for you here—our Advent Quiet Day, art with D.G. Smalling, fellowship through our Cathedral circles, worship and music at Sunday services.
I would encourage you to take a moment to read our lectionary readings for the second Sunday of Advent which hearken back to the ancient prophets who foretold the great story that is to come.
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" (Romans 15:13).
The Very Reverend Katie Churchwell, 15th Dean, St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
