Dean's Message for December 25, 2025

December 24, 2025
On this holy day, grace and peace to you in the name of our newborn Savior. Christmas proclaims a truth the world longs to hear again and again: that God has chosen to dwell with us—not in power or grandeur, but in love, humility, and light. Today we rejoice that the Word has become flesh and made his dwelling among us.
In the midst of celebrations, travel, quiet moments, and full tables, Christmas invites us to pause and remember that Christ comes to us just as we are. He enters our joys and our sorrows alike, offering hope, healing, and new life. Wherever this day finds you, know that you are held in God’s abiding love and remembered in the prayers of this Cathedral community.
Let us pray together the Collect for Christmas Day:
Almighty God, you have given your only-begotten Son to take our nature upon him, and to be born this day of a pure virgin: Grant that we, who have been born again and made your children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by your Holy Spirit; through our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom with you and the same Spirit be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
May the light of Christ shine brightly in your home this Christmas season, and may the peace of God—which passes all understanding—guard your hearts and minds in the days ahead.
The Very Reverend Katie Churchwell, 15th Dean, St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
