St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral is deeply grateful to share the generous gift of a 1932 Steinway grand piano, donated to the cathedral by Ralph and Marinell Guild. This extraordinary instrument now joins the life of the cathedral as a new voice in worship—one that will support prayer, song, and sacred music for generations to come.
Founded in 1853, Steinway & Sons is widely regarded as the gold standard in piano craftsmanship. Each Steinway is built with meticulous care, designed not only for technical excellence but for depth, warmth, and expressive resonance. Instruments from the early 20th century—particularly those from the 1930s—are especially prized for their tonal richness and enduring artistry.
As the cathedral prayerfully discerns the piano’s permanent home within our sacred spaces, we are already enjoying hearing its voice in the cathedral. Whether accompanying worship, enhancing choral offerings, or supporting special services and concerts, this Steinway will serve as a companion to the musical and spiritual life of St. Paul’s.
The piano will be blessed and dedicated on Sunday, February 15, offering the community an opportunity to give thanks for this gift and to mark its place in the ongoing story of worship at the cathedral.
We give thanks for the Guilds’ generosity and for the ways this instrument will help shape the soundscape of prayer, praise, and beauty at St. Paul’s—now and in the years ahead.
